Handmade and Heartfelt
About This Novel
When the rigorous architect Lu Shiyan meets Mi Hui, a handicraft girl by the stream, his precise world begins to allow for errors. She paid for his handmade bamboo basket with a clay handprint, and it became his first "imperfect collection" outside of his drawings. His world is composed of precise straight lines and data, while her language is composed of gentle curves and moonlight. Straight lines begin to learn to bend, and curves find their direction of growth. From the dispute over the size of the bamboo lampshade to the quiet heartbeat of fireflies by the stream, he analyzes happiness in architectural terms, and she weaves tenderness with bamboo strips. Under the moonlight, he clumsily held out the bamboo basket he had woven and asked, "Can I stay and watch the stream flow through your fingers every day?" Straight lines and curves embraced here, and they found the gentlest arc of life in each other's eyes.
