About This Novel
"Attempt Collection", published in 1920, is the first collection of vernacular poems in the history of modern Chinese literature. It ushered in the new literary movement and is a pioneering text. The content is divided into three parts, with "Qu Guoji" attached. The first volume has not yet been born out of the old-style poetry, while the second and third volumes are bold innovations in free verse. "Trial Collection" was first published in 1920 and sold over 10,000 copies as soon as it was released. Hu Shi also invited scholars and poets to add and delete poems to the selected edition, and attached a preface to the new edition until the fourth edition was finalized and passed down to future generations. It has been nearly a hundred years since the first edition of "Anthology". During this century, literary and theoretical circles have widely debated its significance and value. It is a veritable must-read classic in the collection of modern Chinese poetry.
