"A Brief History of Chinese Novels" is the first monograph written by Lu Xun that systematically discusses the development history of Chinese novels. There are 28 articles in total. At the back of the book is the article "Historical Changes in Chinese Novels", which is the author's lecture notes in Xi'an in July 1924. This monograph begins with ancient myths and legends and ends with the condemnation of novels in the late Qing Dynasty. It completely discusses the origin and evolution of Chinese novels, accurately evaluates representative novel writers and works in various historical periods of China, and deeply analyzes the internal connections between earlier and later novels.
