About This Novel

This book tells the story of love and hope between two young people: Kennedy O'Dade grew up in Kibera, a slum in Kenya. At the age of sixteen, homeless and desperate, he was given a collection of Martin Luther King Jr.'S speeches. Inspired by this book, he spent 20 cents to buy a football and launched the youth organization SHOFCO, determined to bring hope to the compatriots in Kibera. A few years later, Jessica Posner, a student at Wesleyan University in the United States, went to SHOFCO as a volunteer. Despite Kennedy's suspicion and rejection, she moved into his hut to share the joys and sorrows with the people of Kibera. They fell in love while getting along at zero distance. With the full support of Kibera residents and celebrities from all walks of life, they have created a small paradise in Kibera. More than 76,000 people no longer worry about water shortages and diseases, and have received funding from entrepreneurial projects to start a new life. Jessica and Kennedy initiated change in every community, working to bring the same determination and passion to more slums.
