About This Novel
This book is China's first aerial photo album, first published in 1938, and collects nearly 200 rare aerial photos: the magnificent old photos of the Xi'an City Wall, "buffalo pulling a plane", group photos of dignitaries of the Republic of China in front of the plane, etc. These photos were taken using a small rolling shutter Leica camera during Custer's flight missions in China from 1933 to 1936. The 12 first aerial photos of China in the appendix were taken by French officers using hot air balloons in the early 20th century.
