About This Novel
At the end of 2012, I was invited by Mr. Xie Guoxing of Academia Sinica in Taiwan to pay an academic visit to Academia Sinica for the third time. In addition to participating in the "Ming and Qing Studies at the Crossroads" symposium organized by the Ming and Qing Research Promotion Committee as a "required action" during this visit, the rest of the time was an "optional action". "Read a hexagram of Yi in the morning, and read several lines of history in time." Such a leisurely academic journey not only makes people feel relaxed after getting rid of the hustle and bustle of daily life, but also seems to appreciate the inner freedom of free rein and free thoughts. We went with Mr. Xie to Tainan to investigate folk customs, buy books at the Eslite Bookstore in the center of Taipei, visit National Taiwan University and countless small bookstores around it, and check out materials at the Fu Sinian Library of Academia Sinica and the Library and Archives of the Institute of Modern History.
