About This Novel
When reading the 2011 essays, a passage from Dickens always comes to my mind. These are words that make people sleepless. When I think of them, I feel inexplicably restless in my heart, as if something different has been added to my bones. Dickens's words were originally meant for the French Revolution. It was an era of shock, an era of blood and fire, a time of life and death, hope in times of despair, blood stains and crying, delivery beds and tombstones, destruction and shattering as well as prayer and reconstruction. In the era of great changes, there will be great tears. We will be soaked in blood, steamed in boiling water, and washed in clean water. But what about the present, the present we live in, what kind of era is this? What period? We are at a loss and really don't know how to name this emotion: love or hate. If you want to love this era, just be reborn in this era, this is heaven; if you want to hate this era, just be reborn in this era, this is hell.
