Since I Started Acting
About This Novel
"Since My Acting" is a record of the first half of the life of the famous Chinese artist Ouyang Yuqian. It tells the story of his childhood, adolescence, studying abroad, returning to China, creating art, and promoting anti-Japanese war behind enemy lines. Mr. Ouyang Yuqian used writing his autobiography to eliminate his psychological guilt. The most typical example is "Confessions" written by the great French thinker Rousseau. There were similar works in China in the past, usually called "self-litigation", "self-blame", "self-curse", etc. In the book "Since My Acting" he wrote, he said clearly at the beginning: "This article is the autobiography of the first half of my life, which is also my confession. I have been in the theater world for many years and made no contribution. Only a few fragmentary memories are left. How shameful! Looking back on the past, sadness comes from it, my eyes are on the road, and my heart is as hot as fire! The records in the future should not be so empty!"
