About This Novel

Every time I pass by Wuhan by train, the conductor asks us to look up at the Yellow Crane Tower and down at the Yangtze River. In my mind, Wuhan is like a rumbling train, rolling noisily and fieryly on the track, messy, annoying, and monotonous. Although every time my friends in Wuhan introduce their places to me, they always cite landmarks such as the cherry blossoms and plum blossoms in the campus of Wuhan University, the vastness of the East Lake, even the fragrant sesame sauce stirred into the hot dry noodles, and the fireworks seen from the Yellow Crane Tower in March... I even made a special trip to Wuhan, but none of these can change my impression of Wuhan.
