Guangzhou Case (the Case of Di Gong in the Tang Dynasty)
About This Novel
The Dutch sinologist John Gauloppe has rewritten the legend of Di Renjie, a famous official in the early Tang Dynasty, combining the elegance of Chinese classical literature with the fun of Western detective novels. It is a brand new unabridged translation, with hand-drawn illustrations by Gaulopi and a full analysis of the creative background. The translator has studied Gao Luopei for many years and is responsible for the translation alone to ensure a unified writing style. "The Case of Di Gong of the Tang Dynasty" successfully created "China's Sherlock Holmes" and was translated into and published in many foreign languages, leaving a significant mark in the history of cultural exchanges between China and the world. Fifteen versions of the translated version of "The Case of Di Gong of the Tang Dynasty" are planned to be published. Zhang Ling, who has studied Gao Luopei for many years, is responsible for the translation and writes annotations and postscripts that are both academic and readable. It is currently the only version on the market that has been independently translated by one person. The third volume of "The Case of Di Gong of the Tang Dynasty" includes "Purple Cloud Temple", "Liu Garden Picture", "Guangzhou Case", "Necklace Case" and "Mid-Autumn Festival Case". Each volume is equipped with illustrations created by Gao Luopei himself, full of ancient charm and pleasing to the eye. "The Guangzhou Case" tells that in 680 AD, when Di Gong was appointed as the prime minister of the dynasty, he went to Guangzhou as an imperial envoy. With the assistance of Qiao Tai and Tao Qian, he solved the case of the disappearance of the courtier, the case of the mysterious dancer and the murder of the noble lady.

Di Renjie, the minister of Dali Temple, solved the case. Di Renjie must be familiar to everyone. We have heard about his name for a long time, and we are also amazed by his method of handling cases. It is very unusual and very good.
The illustrations at the beginning are also very good. They just introduce the general picture of the Guangzhou case and help us understand the details. It feels like a spoiler in advance.
We walked into the Guangzhou case together and deeply understood the circumstances of the three major cases. Each of these was a very good experience for us, as if we had arrived in 680 AD.
