About This Novel
Zhang He had that dream again. It was like a rust-colored dream, with dim yellow lights swinging back and forth to illuminate the cold cage. A woman whose face could not be seen clearly sang babblingly, and then the iron prison was opened and the woman was dragged out. There seemed to be faint screams not far away, and there was a whooshing sound of wind when the whip was waved. Zhang He watched the woman struggling with her bare feet, dragging a trail of marks on the wet floor. There were many people talking, either laughing or crying, and then a tall man suddenly appeared in front of Zhang He, with his hands behind his back and a black whip stuck in his belt.
