About This Novel

The novel is based on real historical figures and unfolds in chronological order the mysterious story of Wasak Caliph, the political leader of the Islamic world, who gave up his Islamic faith, married his biological mother, and hoped to obtain supernatural powers through a series of rituals. However, the fantasy of the plot does not seem to fully explain its uniqueness. It is very different from many Gothic novels: the plot of the novel has nothing to do with the usual dark castle where ghosts wander, but depicts the ghosts, gods and culture of the Islamic civilization in the Middle East. At the end of the 18th century when Orientalism was in vogue, "The History of the Caliphate of Wasak", which combines European traditional Gothic and Eastern Islamic mysteries, may not only have a prominent position in Gothic literature, but also leave an indelible mark on the history of the development of Orientalism.
