Suicide
About This Novel
This book is composed of "Suicide" by Georges Simenon, "The Disappearance of Odile", "The Window of Rouet" and "Magret and the Old Men". Simenonnon has always been fascinated by suicide. From his youth until the end of his life, the thought of suicide never left his mind. In addition, his beloved daughter committed suicide at the age of twenty-five. When readers read "The Disappearance of Odile", they will inevitably think of his beloved daughter repeating the story of that neurotic young girl over and over again in her mind and letters: leaving home and her father, a writer, not running away from home, but committing suicide. "The Window of Rouet's House" tells the story of an old maid who looks at the world through a window and eventually commits suicide. She kept monitoring other people's every move, and finally couldn't stand her failed life and committed suicide by taking sleeping pills. Others ended their lives with handguns. The elderly nobles in "Magret and the Old Men" experienced a tragic suicide.
