About This Novel

Robin, the assistant of London's lame detective Strike, receives a package and is horrified to discover that it contains a woman's severed leg. Strike was less shocked than she was, but alert. He felt that there were four people he knew from the past who were capable of such a thing, all four men who were adept at committing unspeakable atrocities on a sustained basis. The police identified one of the four men as a suspect, but Strike felt that that person was not the perpetrator. He and Robin begin their own investigation, delving into the dark and volatile world of the other three. But more horrific events happened, and Strike and Robin didn't have much time left...
