About This Novel

One is the famous "chief" curator of the Museum of Modern Art in New York, and the other is a talented new talent in the art world. The two strangers were called to Basel, Switzerland by a mysterious invitation letter at the same time, in order to compete for a famous painting - "Dream". The owner of the famous painting set a rule: for seven days, they would read an ancient book for an hour and a half each day. After seven days, each would give a speech and judge the authenticity of the painting. Anyone who can impress him will get the ownership of the famous painting. Just as they devoted themselves to this competition, the art world was also turbulent, and conspiracies and scandals gradually surrounded the two. This is the challenge from art: give up your career and defend it to the death? Or bow to authority and hide secrets? There is also a huge mystery about the painter revealed in ancient books. What is the truth? The two stared at the painting again, wanting to ask the woman in the painting: "What is the secret you hold in your hands?"

It's a showdown, all decent people, big and small, are my fans of Rousseau.

Art + Novel>Beautiful novel? The author deserves to have double majors in fine arts and literature. This short novel vividly displays the legendary story of the painter and the beauty of oil painting art. The following are some thoughts after reading this short book on and off during the Spring Festival: Mr. Rousseau was an amateur painter whose artistic achievements were not recognized until long after his death. However, during his lifetime, he had already become a fan of talented artists of the same period like Picasso, as well as an ordinary couple who were engaged in transportation and laundry. First, her husband, who often helped him move his paintings, was fascinated by Teacher Lu. Then, the husband gave him crazy benefits to his wife, so that she could come to Teacher Lu's house to appreciate art whenever she had nothing to do. Teacher Lu, who lives in the same building, has actually been obsessed with this washerwoman for a long time, but the washerwoman has never looked at Rousseau for a long time. In the end, the washerwoman was fascinated by Rousseau's talent and became the nude woman in his deathbed masterpiece "The Dream", while the porter later became a world-famous collector who spent his life collecting Rousseau's paintings crazily. The novel revolves around the collector's grandfather (ancient fanboy) and granddaughter (later fanboy), Rousseau fanboys (professional Rousseau researchers and curatorial assistants) in the United States and Japan, and fangirls (top Rousseau scholars), as well as some ill-intentioned businessmen who gather around curators and collectors to make money from Rousseau or Picasso.
