About This Novel
"The Hound of the Baskervilles" is one of the four novels in the Sherlock Holmes series. The story tells that among the Baskerville family, there is a mysterious legend that has been circulated for three hundred years - "The Big Devil-like Hunting Dog". There is a horrifying legend about the Baskerville family. One of their ancestors was bitten to death by a huge vicious dog because of his bad behavior. Now Sir Baskerville died mysteriously. According to Holmes' investigation, he died of excessive fright. After his heirs came here to inherit the property, they also encountered a series of horrific incidents related to vicious dogs. The reason for the matter is that the old knight who was frightened to death also had a younger brother who was exiled abroad. After his death, this younger brother left behind a son named Stapleton. In order to inherit the old knight's large inheritance, this person secretly raised a huge vicious dog using family legends, and painted its nose with phosphorus to make it glow in the night, making it look even more terrifying. In this way, he scared the old knight to death, and prepared to attack the new heir in the same way, so that he could inherit the inheritance as the next heir. In the end, Holmes solved the mystery through investigation and analysis of the surrounding characters.
