About This Novel

One day at the end of March 1892, it was cold and windy, and we were having lunch. Suddenly a telegram came from Holmes. He responded to someone casually, and then stood next to a stove. He didn't say a word, but kept reading the telegram. He was smoking a cigarette, with a straight face and a thoughtful look, as if something was wrong. He suddenly turned back to look at me, with a strange look in his eyes.
