About This Novel
Gorky (МаксимГорький, 1868-1936), formerly known as Alexei Maximovich Pishkov (Алексей МаксимовичПещков). A great proletarian writer of the Soviet Union, the founder of socialist and realist literature, a mentor of proletarian revolutionary literature, and one of the founders of Soviet literature. Lenin called him "the most outstanding representative of proletarian art."
