About This Novel

Joan is a thoroughly pragmatic person who has only wanted to live a stable life since she was a child; she chooses promising lawyers to marry, prevents her husband from pursuing an idyllic life, and requires her three children to make life plans based on her values. On the way back to visit her little daughter, the train stopped due to the rainy season. She was stranded at a small station in the desert. She could only walk in the nearby sand dunes every day. As she walked, she began to face herself. Every "little thing" she had deliberately ignored in the past suddenly came to her uninvited... "The Mask of Happiness" was first published in 1944. It is one of the most satisfying works of Agatha Christie's life. She borrowed this book to satisfy a question about herself: Who am I? Who am I "really"? What do my loved ones think of me? Do they think what I think of me? The process is full of twists and turns, real and cruel.

I read it in one go and it felt weird. I slowly realized it myself.
