About This Novel
I was twenty-one years old that year. After graduating from the Chinese Department of the university, I was assigned to work as a secretary in the General Office of the Ministry of Public Security. I didn't want to, but my family had no background and I had no acquaintances in Beijing, so I had no choice but to recognize him. I thought I would work for a while and then find a new job at a newspaper or publisher or something. In those years, newly assigned college students had to go to the grassroots level for training. The point of our department is in the northeast. So, before the chair under my butt was warm, I bundled up my luggage and threw it on the train, and together with a few newcomers, we arrived in Luan County, Heilongjiang Province. When we arrived at the county bureau, only one girl remained, and the others all went to the grassroots level. The place I went to was the police station in Tashan Town. Looking at the map of China, Luan County is roughly at the mouth of the "chicken". Tashan Town is not big, with about 30,000 to 20,000 people.
