In the early morning of March 15, 2002, a fire broke out in the home of Guo Tong, a group of villagers in Beigou Village, Dongwan Township, Aimin County. The fire started in the west room of his home, burning two rooms in the house, killing two people and injuring two others. After lasting for more than two hours, the villagers got up and put it out. The two people who suffered burns were the head of the household, Guo Tong and his wife. Guo Tong's injuries were very serious, with almost no intact skin on his head, face, chest, back, and limbs. His wife, Zhang Fangling, was slightly injured. They were both sent to Aimin County Hospital for treatment after dawn. One of the people burned to death was their little daughter Mai Mai. Another suspect is Mai Mai's fiancé Liu Shuaibing.
