About This Novel
The night is already very deep. There was not a single car or pedestrian on the simple rural road. On both sides of the road are clumps of woods and fields of crops. The crops are about to mature, and the tall corn forests are densely packed, like a green ocean. The sound of the wind blowing through the treetops and the occasional hoot of an owl added an eerie atmosphere to the quiet road. The sound of footsteps came closer and closer, and a flashlight swayed on the road. Under the glow of the flashlight, two men carrying backpacks walked quickly. One of the men had a cigarette in his mouth, and the cigarette butt flashed a red halo from time to time, which looked shocking in the night. There was not a single house on either side of the road, and there was no light at all.
