Meghan did not know Agatha, but Agatha was familiar with Meghan. Pregnant Agatha is a part-time employee in a supermarket in the suburbs of London. Her work is hard and boring. What she looks forward to most every day is to spy on Megan, another pregnant woman who often comes to the store to shop. To Agatha, Meghan's life was a model of the perfect life. Megan is a reporter for women's magazines. After becoming a mother, she ran a parenting blog with great success. She had everything Agatha wanted: two perfect children, a handsome husband, a happy marriage, and fashionable friends. Every night, Agatha would read Meghan's blog while waiting for a call from her boyfriend, the father of her child, but he never came. Agatha finally worked up the courage to talk to Megan. The two mothers-to-be quickly became friends, and Agatha was even invited to Meghan's home. The chat was relaxed and pleasant, with each other hiding something in their words. But who doesn't have a little secret? It's just that Megan never imagined in what dangerous way their lives would be entangled...

"I" is not the protagonist of this story. The protagonist is a lady named Meg. She and her husband Jack are impeccable parents of two impeccable children. Both children are blond and blue-eyed and are sweeter than honey cakes. After Meg became pregnant again, "I" felt extremely excited because "I" might be as happy as her if I was pregnant with a child.
