About This Novel
The novel that made Keigo Higashino's sister cry after reading it won the top 10 list of two major mystery novels of the year. This is a story about family, affection, and humanity. It sensitively depicts issues that every family will encounter, such as elderly care and family conflicts. The crime in this novel is stupid and shallow, but the truth behind the case is extremely shocking, and it is very likely to happen around you and me. This family looks very ordinary: Maehara and his wife are middle-aged, with a demented old mother and an underage son. The peace was completely broken one afternoon: the son killed a little girl at home. The Maehara couple were determined to remove the body and cover up the crime. Maehara's confession was reasonable and impeccable, and the police could have closed the case. However, when detective Kagami saw Maehara's mother's red-painted fingers, he understood the truth.

After watching White Night Walk, I feel boring watching anything else.
The mother's doting and the lack of communication between father and son resulted in the child's selfish and withdrawn character; in the helpless family environment, the mother chose Alzheimer's disease, which may be her way of remembering her deceased wife; the son's indifference is essentially a respect for his father's way of healing his scars. What mother doesn't want her child to be well? However, one chooses to hide it, and the other chooses to wake up. "The police are not just satisfied with finding out the truth. When and how to find out the truth is the most important thing." 😹 Keigo Higashino's books make me addicted. Maybe it's not just his reasoning techniques, but also his way of revealing various social phenomena at that time through the portrayal of human nature, which can make people uncomfortable and also make people feel warm. 👨
Every ending amazes me
I've finished reading... It's incredible... A son killed a little girl and then his parents dumped the body all night long in order to cover up his crime. But the night was very dark and it had just rained. They could not destroy all the evidence on the body, which made the couple think of a way to minimize the harm to their future and their son. That was to frame their old mother and she was suffering from Alzheimer's disease. But this mother did not get happiness. Her son and daughter-in-law did not treat him very warmly, which made her despair. As a result, she pretended to be an Alzheimer's patient and finally covered her fingers with lipstick to signal the police. After all, a murderer with red fingers on his hands could not strangle a little girl without leaving traces. In the end, the mother and the police staged a painful scene with her intimate daughter, forcing her son to surrender and tell the truth. When I heard this, I couldn't help but shed tears. 💧 It turns out that the story ended like this. The mother took the gift her son gave him for the first time and tied it to the crutch she often used because she cherished it. The policeman pretended to put handcuffs on the mother and slowly walked towards the door. The son knelt down... Ps Kaga Kyouichiro is a great detective and a ruthless character who is indispensable in mystery novels. There are simply no words to describe Higashino Keigo's amazing screenwriter. It really surprises me every time. I can't move my feet to feel relieved. I have too many thoughts. Maybe this is inspiration. Every time I read his novels, I have a feeling of rebirth. It is an out-of-body experience after a twisted mind. So shocking [strong][strong][strong][strong][strong][strong][strong][strong][strong][strong]
I think Keigo Higashino is not a mystery novelist in the traditional sense, and his works are not mystery novels in the traditional sense. He pushed the boundaries of so-called mystery fiction. He has many insights and opinions about Japanese society and human nature. It can be seen from this book that he has a lot of insights into contemporary family issues in Japan, but he does not impose his opinions on readers. In this book, what I saw was a flat and straightforward narrative without the author's own comments at all. What we see and think about in this book is our understanding as readers. I live in China and have never been to Japan. Naturally, I cannot see Japanese social phenomena. But Keigo Higashino took me into Japan with his narrative words. I saw the dangers of Japanese society and the cruelty of human nature, but I also felt the love between people. I will also analyze human nature from many different aspects. For example, many people would criticize Yukiho Karasawa in White Night Walk for being cruel and cold-blooded. Of course, many people choose to know about Yukiho's past and know that there is a sun in her dark night - Kirihara. A pair of souls who are dependent on each other in suffering in life, although they are murderers, they are also victims. Like China, many middle-aged people in Japan are in the middle of the family, with elderly parents to support and young children to educate. Akio is one of them. Red Finger confronts the missing family love. There are two typical mothers in this story. When faced with their son's wrong actions, one encourages her son to step back from the brink and admit his mistakes bravely, while the other protects his son. The results are naturally different. The former achieved self-salvation, while the latter truly became a self-enclosed murderer. But Akio also didn't understand love. As a son, he didn't care enough about his mother. As a father, he was indifferent to his son's education. One of the truths shocked me even more. In order to distance herself from her indifferent son and daughter-in-law, she turned out to be an Alzheimer's patient in disguise. She used lipstick to dye her fingers red to prove her innocence. It was also to remind her son not to make any mistakes again and find a safe place. This also explains the title of the book Red Finger. From this book, I realized a lot, understood a lot, and learned a lot.
Shockingly expensive
His books are no longer mystery novels in the pure sense, but more of an anatomy of human nature, causing us to think deeply. I really like his books
Personally, I don't like this style of book very much. I don't know if it's a translation problem or some other reason. I feel that the sentences are not smooth and the words are messy. Although I can generally understand it, it is still very uncomfortable to read.
After all, it looks good, but it's too expensive. I look down on it. 😔When I finish reading his book, I will probably starve to death.

Solving crimes has nothing to do with red fingers, right?
I found that there are connections between several novels by Keigo Higashino
