Emil, a middle school teacher, and his wife Juliet, in order to get away from ordinary life, moved to a riverside cabin to live in seclusion after retirement. As soon as I moved in, my only neighbor, Bernardin, knocked on the door. From then on, he came on time at four o'clock every afternoon, sat there for two hours, and then left on time. Emil tried to escape and asked his wife to pretend to be sick, but the neighbors kept coming. Emil finally couldn't bear it anymore and kicked Bernardin out of the house. But late one night two days later, he heard the sound of machinery at Bernardin's house. Curious, he went over to take a look and found that Bernardin was lying on the floor of the garage, running the car engine and trying to commit suicide...
