Toru Miyoshi: Born in Tokyo in 1931, his original name was Kawakami Yuzo. He graduated from the Department of Economics of National University. In 1950, he joined the Yomiuri Shimbun as an editor. In 1959, he wrote "Far Life" under the pseudonym Toru Miyoshi and was selected for second place in the 8th "Literary Circle" Newcomer Award. "Maple Dust Zone" in 1966 won the 20th Japan Mystery Writers Association Award. In the same year, he retired and became a professional writer. "Saint Girl" in 1968 also won the 58th Naoki Award. Miyoshi Toru also served as the chairman of the Japan Mystery Writers Association for two years in 1979, following Hiroshi Sano.
