About This Novel

In 1878, after receiving my doctorate in medicine from the University of London, I went to Netley to pursue the required courses for military medicine. After completing his studies there, he was assigned to the Fifth Northumberland Fusiliers as a medical assistant. That regiment was then stationed in India. Before I could even arrive to report to the army, the Second Battle of Afghanistan broke out. When I landed at Bombay, I heard that my regiment had passed through the passes and was marching behind the enemy's rear. Nevertheless, I followed the officers who had fallen behind like me, and on reaching Kandahar safely, I found my troops and immediately began my work.
