About This Novel
During the famine years, a village boy read out the "Guanyin Lotus" written on a white paper after swallowing a frog that jumped out of a coffin. The boy was hated by his mother and loved by his father. The father wanted to send the boy to a temple to beg for food, but unfortunately he drowned on the way to ask for medicine for the boy. The boy became an incense stick, forgot his original name, and had three masters, a master who could sit in a vat, a second master who might be a wanted criminal, and a junior master who searched for his biological mother all over the world... In the absurd years, people wanted to "break the four olds" and smash the Bodhisattva statues. This young man who did not believe in Bodhisattvas saw his father's soul in someone's ravings...
