About This Novel

After leaving Los Angeles, Detective Boss came to the San Fernando Police Department. Two pharmacists at a pharmacy were killed while working and the entire local police force was called in. Bose assisted local police in their investigation. He followed the clues and unexpectedly came across a dangerous and huge drug abuse trading network. Boss infiltrated the organization and tried to uncover the shocking truth about the black kingdom. At the same time, a murderer captured by Bosch many years ago suddenly claimed in prison that he was framed and imprisoned by Bosch. He provided shocking and conclusive evidence. Bosch was unable to defend himself. Colleagues who used to get along with him suddenly became strangers, and no one was willing to stand up to defend his reputation. And once his authority is questioned, other cases he has handled before will become full of doubts. Boss must fight for himself, both to prove his innocence and to ensure that the clever killer remains behind bars. The two cases were intertwined like barbed wire. Along the way, Bosch discovers that there are two kinds of truths in the world: one that sets you free, and one that buries you in darkness forever.

Compassion alone is not enough to uphold justice. What is more difficult than finding the truth is letting the truth stand out from the chains of various interests. Indeed, whether in reality or in fiction, there are always some powerful people who commit crimes and let others plead guilty while they themselves get away with it.

Bosch has accumulated too many emotions in his plain narrative, which he ruminates in every dark night and lingers on. The sadness and guilt of the death of relatives, the anger against evil forces, the persistence for the truth, the tenderness for my daughter, and the helplessness and exhaustion of being unable to change the world.

There are only two kinds of truth in the world: one that sets you free, and one that buries you in darkness forever. But in fact, which one to choose is up to you. If you choose the right thing, you will be free; if you choose the wrong thing, you will be in the dark.
