About This Novel

"Twelve Years of Life and Death" tells the author's entire process of discovering and treating cancer, overcoming fear, and finally being taken away by cancer. Among them are thoughts on the meaning of life, examination of the relationship between cancer and life, questioning of the doctor-patient relationship and social ethics and laws, and the mentality and perception of facing cancer. The author Wen Xin was diagnosed with breast cancer in October 2004, and has undergone various tossings from routine to unconventional. After nearly ten years of tug-of-war between accepting treatment and refusing treatment, at the end of 2013, in the pain of systemic metastasis of cancer cells, I chose to die with cancer; however, a miracle happened, the suicide attempt failed, the cancer cells disappeared, and I was reborn from the dead. With a sense of mission to live up to God's care and to be grateful for the kindness of doctors, I started writing this book. However, before the book was finished, the cancer recurred in full force.

For twelve years, life and death were uncertain. But when people live in this world, they should always have a posture of their own, whether it is joy in suffering, perhaps those who have been given notice by the god of death love this world more. I don't know if people who are struggling on the line of life and death will have a fearless and open-minded attitude in the end, but I know that they must also have a lot of reluctance. You are in the prime of your life, you have a happy family, and you are running for the things you like. Suddenly being informed that you may leave your loved ones at any time, you become a burden to your family... People who are sick are more likely to feel aggrieved and depressed, and then what? Those relatives who stay by the hospital bed do not deserve to bear the patient's unpredictable temper, and doctors do not deserve it either. Therefore, those who control their emotions and live life as usual or even more wonderful are really worthy of respect.
