About This Novel

This book is a collection of essays about my hometown Jiangnan composed of 99 articles. In the book, Zhenjiang, Huzhou, Dubian Highway, the breathy back house, the ancient dragon kiln, the form of a farmhouse, the Li River, a night in the mountains, the Book of September, a moment of a person, the silent walk of a young man, the poor life of relatives at the bottom... Are gathered into dense words that gush out like a fountain, forming all the chapters of the book. In these chapters, all of the author Heitao's hometown memories, childhood memories, and the realistic and complex atmospheres he encountered while growing up are all preciously contained in them. This book reflects the dramatic changes that have taken place in Jiangnan since the 1980s. Many of the things recorded in the book, whether material or spiritual, have been completely changed or lost and can never be found again. As a result, Heitao witnessed and experienced the vicissitudes of his hometown.
