Reading Jin Ping Mei
by Shulou Longsu White Feathered Dog
About This Novel
Is "Jin Ping Mei" really a filthy book? But why is it one of the four great books and why it has been studied by so many people for thousands of years? This work can be read from many perspectives such as human nature, history, and society. Some of them restore the true history of the late Ming Dynasty, and some tell the story of unchanging human nature. Anyone can borrow the wine cup of Jin Ping Mei to pour out the block in his heart.

There will be different views on different things. Maybe for some people, The Golden Plum Vase is a dirty book, but many of the things described in it are characteristics of human nature.
The analysis is logical. Keep close to the historical context. The extensive quotations are amazing.
Although Ximen Qing, a nouveau riche, is very sympathetic, some of the things he did were also immoral and his money was not in the right way. Maybe he himself was afraid, so he also built temples.
And the one who has the heart of compassion is a Bodhisattva; the one who has the heart of fear is the gentleman; the one who has the heart of joy is the villain; the one who has the mind of effective Dharma is the evil ear. "
Thorough analysis
Although this era is extravagant and unprogressive, it is also tolerant and open. Isn't this what we call "the best of times and the worst of times."
Things that people who feel unbearable see will always have an unbearable side. The same goes for the book Jin Mei Ping. It can reflect a person's heart very well. Maybe it is not this book that is unbearable.
I've finished reading The Plum in the Golden Lotus, the unabridged version. But I still want to take another look. As you get older, you will have a different perspective on the books you have read before.
