About This Novel

"When You Are Old" is a collection of love poems by Irish poet Yeats. On January 30, 1889, Yeats and Maud Gunnery met for the first time, and they began a lifelong entanglement. "She stood by the window, with a large group of apple blossoms blooming beside her; she was dazzling, as if she were the sunshine..." They had a poetic first acquaintance, but failed to get a poetic result. In the next 28 years, Yeats proposed to Maud many times, but was rejected many times. It was not until he was in his fifties that he had to marry someone else. In response, Maud said, "The world will be grateful that I didn't marry you." In 1923, Yeats won the Nobel Prize for Literature. When Yeats died in 1939, Maud did not attend the funeral. Yeats devoted his life to writing poems for the goddess, expressing his deep love for her. He once said: "All my poems are dedicated to Modganni." From these love poems, we can feel the fiery love and poetry.

when you get old

A green tea bitch became a great poet. She only loved his poems, so he spent his whole life as a spare tire. The first poem is a sentiment of blood and tears, pain and joy, neither black nor bragging. Xu Zhimo and Yeats's views on love are not on the same level at all. I don't know how you felt when you read it. I feel sorry for this silly boy.

We met in the water town of Lingnan that year, and her face turned red with embarrassment. She is my first love, a very simple girl. In the end I gave up on her because I was young, frivolous and arrogant at the time. Finally, as I grew older, I realized that I would never meet someone who looked like her in this life. I regret it very much

Personally, I feel that this translation is more literal.

Compare and feel Over there in Liuyuan Over there in Willow Garden, my love and I once met; She walked through the Willow Garden, stepping on her snow-white feet. She told me to take it easy on love, like willow growing on a tree; But I was too young and stupid to agree with her. On the grass by the river, my love and I once stood side by side, On my sloping shoulders, she put her white little hands. She told me to take life easy, like the grass growing on the river weir; But I was too young and stupid then, and now I can only cry. Another version: Going down through Willow Garden, I once met my love, She walked through the willow garden, her slender feet white as snow. She wanted me to love naturally, like a tree sprouting new buds. But I, being young and foolish, did not listen. In the fields by the river, I stopped with my lover, On my leaning shoulder, she put down her white hands. She wants me to live naturally, like grass growing from the weir, But at that time, I was young and stupid, and now my clothes are wet with tears. It's not that this translation is bad, it's just that I personally don't like literal translation very much. I don't know what everyone thinks.

I bought this book of poetry when I was in eighth grade, and I'm still reading it now. It's really good, and some of the sentences are really captivating.
