About This Novel
This book is the most comprehensive collection of Whitman's prose in my country so far. The translator, Ma Yongbo, is also a poet. The translation is accurate, elegant and poetic. Lin Xianzhi commented in the preface: "The Hour of the Soul is a great book that embraces our existence. Through Whitman's prose, through the politics and aesthetics of his writing, we think about people and approach people. Whitman tells us that a real person will not abandon any of his kind, nor will he abandon anything in the world. The world belongs to people, and people also belong to the world."
