About This Novel
After the Anshi Rebellion, the Tang Empire fell apart and its national power turned from prosperity to decline. Tubo took advantage of the situation and occupied vast areas such as the Western Regions, Hexi, and Longyou. The Silk Road that had been prosperous for hundreds of years was cut off and declined in the long river of history. Although the Tang Dynasty wanted to regain the lost territory, it was unable to do so, and Hehuang became a hidden pain in the heart of the empire. After Hexi was conquered by Tibet, Dunhuang became a settlement of Han people. Although it had been blocked by the Han for hundreds of years and Xirong was in decline, its characters had changed. Along with the mainland, the people still regarded themselves as subjects of the Tang Dynasty and hoped to return to the rule of the Tang emperor one day.
