This collection includes three pieces: "The Demon's Record of the Severed Head", "Repentance on the Broken Jade" and "The Tribulation of Questioning the Heart". "The Record of the Broken Head Demon" tells the story that during the Xuanyuan period, the spiritual energy of heaven and earth was in chaos. Xing Zhao, a mortal, saw his parents being killed and swore to kill to prove the truth. Occasionally, he received the inheritance of Dao Slayer, and from then on he transformed into Zhan Jiezi, wielding the broken-head sword to cut off all injustices in the world, and slaughtered to his heart's content. Therefore, he was reputed to be bloodthirsty throughout his life. Taoism is biased. "Cracked Jade with Regret" tells an anecdote of the Qingyun Sect. On the eve of the sudden change, the most useless ancestor of the Qingyun Sect sat alone in the Sutra Pavilion and slowly recounted seven regrettable past events to the new disciples. "The Tribulation of Asking the Heart" tells the story of Shen Yanzhi, a monk from the Lichen Sect in the Age of Ending Dharma, who fell into a calamity of inner demons when he was trying to reach the state of transformation into gods. His soul entered the "Hustling Square" and held ten "Thousand Spirit Powder" spiritual tickets left by his uncle that can be exchanged for all things. He is faced with a dilemma: on one side is the junior sister Su Qinghe who is suffering from cold due to practicing the Ice Soul Art and her life is hanging by a thread, and needs fire marrow to save her life; on the other side are the sick children and hungry people who are in distress in the streets and alleys, who are in urgent need of help. Shen Yanzhi struggled between emotion and morality. The three short stories all talk about the right path of the heart and the yearning for goodness.
