About This Novel

"His Country" tells a ridiculous and twisted story. The leader of Tinglin Town destroyed the original tranquility of the town to attract investment, opened a printing factory, and discharged harmful chemicals that caused the surrounding animals to abnormally mutate. The leader also guided the residents to sell the enlarged animals to outsiders for food. The exaggeration and surreality in this story are like Kafka's, and the irony is like a late Qing novel, so when combined together, it is a modern "Transformation of Officialdom". What makes the heavy subject lighter is that Han Han teases many people in this novel. For example, the owner of the printing factory is Lu Jinbo, the book that caused the pollution is Han Han's "Poison", and social embarrassments such as being forced to commit suicide and "Into Science". Scenes like thousands of girls crying for Guo Jingming make us smile knowingly when reading.
