The glass on the wooden window of my room was covered with thick dust, and only a few faint rays of light could shine through. My eyes were attracted by an old oil painting on the wall. In the painting is a girl wearing a white dress. Her eyes are lifelike, as if she is staring at me through the canvas. There is a faint smile hanging on the corner of her mouth, but it makes me shudder. It was extremely quiet in the old house. I lay on the bed, tossing and turning, unable to fall asleep. Suddenly, a burst of soft footsteps came from the corridor, "ta, ta, ta", slow and rhythmic, like someone walking around in wooden clogs. I hold my breath and my heart beats like a drum. The footsteps got closer and closer, stopping in front of my door. I stared at the door panel, not daring to express my anger. The door handle began to turn slowly, "squeak--" the door was pushed open a crack. Moonlight filtered in through the crack in the door, and a white figure appeared there. It was a girl in a white dress, exactly like the one in the oil painting! Her long hair fell down, covering half of her face. Only the outline of her chin could be seen, glowing bluish white in the moonlight. "You're finally here..." Her voice seemed to come from a very far away place, carrying unspeakable sadness. I wanted to scream in horror, but found that I couldn't make any sound. The girl took a step forward, and then I saw clearly that there was no shadow under her feet. At this moment, the alarm clock on the bedside suddenly rang a shrill ring, waking me up from extreme fear. I sat up suddenly. Turns out it was just a nightmare? I reached out tremblingly to turn off the alarm clock, only to find that the time showed three o'clock in the morning - exactly the same time as the girl in the dream appeared.
