This book is one of the "Hundred Classics of Literature and History Materials" formulated by the Literature, History and Study Committee of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. The book was first published in May 1984, on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Whampoa Military Academy, under the title "Whampoa Military Academy during the First Cooperation between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party". It collects the speeches or recollections of more than twenty comrades who have served or studied in the military academy, vividly and truly recording the scenes of Huangpu Military Academy officers and students studying, living and fighting together during the first cooperation between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party.
