The Ottoman Empire, a conqueror that originated in Asia Minor, rose rapidly relying on its brave steppe tradition and firm belief in jihad; it was at the intersection of Eastern and Western civilizations and had mastered land transportation between the East and the West for 6 centuries; it combined the traditions of nomadic tribes and the artistic cultivation of Persia , Byzantine political civilization and Arab scientific culture merged into one, becoming a new landscape of Near Eastern culture; it was once the only Islamic force that could challenge European countries, but in the end it could not withstand the impact of its modernization and became a victim of the European powers' competition for the Middle East.
