About This Novel
Yang Luchan (AD 1700-1872), also known as Luchan, nicknamed Lutang, and named Fukui, was a native of Yongnian County, Zhili Province. When he was young, he admired the name of Chen's boxing in Wen County, Henan Province, and went to study Tai Chi under Chen Changxing. With his unique talent and perseverance, he finally mastered the secrets of the Chen family's boxing techniques. He competed with other disciples of the Chen family in martial arts for the first time, but was defeated. His master was shocked by his talent, so he flew to teach him the secret techniques. A few years later, he was known for his ability to evade force and hard force, "hardness in softness, and needles hidden in cotton." He was known as "Zhi Mian Quan". Later he went to the capital and served as a martial arts instructor in Qiying. He became famous in both the government and the public, and was known as "Yang Invincible". He once competed with Dong Haichuan. His sons, Ban Hou and Jian Hou, followed their father's teachings since childhood and became famous boxers. The Manchus Quanyou, Lingshan, Wancun and Wanchun also learned from Lu Chan, but they all worshiped Ban Hou's disciples under Lu Chan's orders.
