About This Novel
Over the past three decades, a series of sexual assaults have occurred in Augusta County, and the perpetrators appear to be the same person. The police department has been unable to solve the problem. Chief Deputy U. S. Attorney Amy Kay has been secretly investigating the case for years. Last year, the repeat offender repeated his old tricks, and the victim was a woman named Melanie. Melanie later gave birth to a son, Alex. Alex's biological father is a sexual assault criminal. When Alex was four months old, people from the social welfare agency took him away from the care center one day. Because someone reported that Melanie planned to sell the child on the black market, and the police found a large amount of drugs from her home. And Melanie knew nothing about it. She loved her child deeply and tried to go to a social welfare institution to get Alex back, but instead she was imprisoned for assaulting a police officer. At this time, Alex has arrived at the first-class adoptive family selected for him by the social welfare agency. This family has a good environment, but they are suffering from infertility and have tried their best to adopt a child. The case came to federal prosecutor Alan Dansby. He was in vain and let his deputy Amy handle everything. Amy noticed the connection between the two cases, so she studied it in detail, but fell into a deeper fog.
