This is the third novel by Seicho Matsumoto that I have read, and the storyline is the one that attracts me the most. Nobuko, who has a quiet, tolerant and refined temperament, and her cold-blooded, sinister and ambitious husband seem to be inseparable. Asano who is infatuated with her, Tokuyama who has impure motives, the mistress who wants to replace Nobuko, and the wife who is caught in the conspiracy, finally show their tough side.
