About This Novel
Based on the scattered records of some legendary figures from the Heian period to the Edo period in Japan, six fantasy stories are reinterpreted. An aristocratic girl and her half-brother who fell into a deep sleep inexplicably lived completely different lives. At the end of their fate, they finally met again ("Sleeping Beauty"); the aristocratic couple who gave birth to a fox felt so ashamed that they killed the fox twice, and were eventually revenged by the fox's daughter ("Fox Charm"); both ears were deafened. A princess who relied on her own powerful power to reverse her destiny and gain love, but unexpectedly everything was fleeting ("The Art of Nightmare Transformation")... Shibusawa Tatsuhiko not only told the classical stories of supernatural beings, but also interpreted them from the perspective of modern concepts from time to time, making the classical and modern, magic and reality intertwined, full of strange and mysterious colors.

Uzumaki Maru is a figure like Oda Nobunaga: he was a "demonic demon king" when he was a child. When he grew up, he associated with bandits and even kidnapped his half-sister and took it as his own. In his old age, he became an eminent monk who could dispatch spirits.
Sleeping Beauty's Pearl Princess is neither alive nor dead, like a doll, but has escaped time; Uzumaki Maru enters the mountain forest and becomes a thief, and "the mountain can be said to be a world without time." Until he was arrested, escaped from the "world without time", entered time again, and finally met the 14-year-old Tamana Hime again at the age of eighty.
The sleeping beauty Tamanahime, who has been trapped in a dream since she was fourteen, has never woken up and has no prince or happy ending. In the end, she helped her half-brother Spinel to practice Suikando.
