These eleven short stories have different themes and lengths: a failed ethnic integration ("Sorry to Bother You"), a chilling and "intentional homicide" traffic accident ("Winter Vacation"), a family swallowed up by the alienation of social "trends" ("Heartbeat Arrest"), and a female writer who is at a bottleneck in her career and asks how writing can interfere with life ("How Do I Recognize You"). The most eye-catching one is "The Assassination of Thatcher". The story cleverly leads readers to another possibility of history through fictional assassinations of real historical figures.
