About This Novel
Chekhov is a world-class master of short stories in Russia and the last critical realist art master in Russia in the late 19th century. Together with the French writer Maupassant and the American writer O. Henry, he is known as one of the "three major short story writers in the world". This collection contains 4 short stories. Three of them are about the lives of teachers in the old Russian era. In "The Uninteresting Story", the author writes about the cynical character formed due to the poverty of spiritual life through an old professor and the people around him. Although "The Principal" criticized the protagonist for being surly, it also expressed sympathy.
