Shebabycon of the Baltimore City Cannon Club proposed firing a cannon ball to the moon to establish a link between the Earth and the moon. Barbicane, Michel Ardan and Captain Nicholl overcame various difficulties and finally set off on a cannonball. But the cannonball did not land on the moon, but instead orbited the moon 2,800 miles away. According to observations from the Cambridge Observatory, there are only two possibilities. The moon's gravity conquered the cannonball and the three travelers finally reached their destination. The other possibility is that the cannonball was bound to a fixed orbit and orbited the moon forever.
