This book describes the different life experiences and paths of brothers Shi Tianxiong and Lu Chengwei, brothers with different surnames, the adopted son and son of the older generation revolutionary Lu Zhentian. Lu Chengwei returned from studying in the United States and became a trendsetter in the financial investment industry; Shi Tianxiong went from being a hero in the Vietnam War to an official career, and then resolutely resigned and went to work. The novel touches on the most important and core level of economic activities in contemporary China, reveals head-on the main contradictions that have emerged during China's transformation period, and focuses on exploring the all-round impact of real problems such as the crisis of faith and the plurality and disorder of value standards on the destiny of contemporary Chinese people.
