Ten Days in the Madhouse
About This Novel
American female reporter Nellie Bly received a task to investigate the New York Lunatic Asylum, so she pretended to be a lunatic and deceived her step by step. She successfully sneaked into the Lunatic Asylum on Black Spring Island and spent ten days and nights with mental patients. She exposed the chaotic management and insensitivity of the staff in such a charitable institution, as well as the fact that patients were subjected to various abuses. After this report was published in the New York World, it caused a great impact. Finally, the New York government decided to allocate more funds for the relief of mentally ill patients.

book review
It was very uncomfortable, just like the feeling I had when I was watching the bodyguard work. I don't know where to start with a lot of emotions. I can only say that I wish everyone in the world would be treated with tenderness.
One of the ways to destroy a person's spirit is to destroy his body.
When a person's most basic physiological needs (eating, sleeping, bathing) are not met, coupled with strict personal control and sudden attack and punishment, how can he be mentally normal? Not enough to eat, not warm enough to wear, not able to sleep well, not even able to drink water. All appeals were ignored. Become the target of abuse and violence by medical workers. Become free labor. Become a sculpture that cannot move. It's so sad, they have already lost their human rights. I can only hope that someone will pick me up or die soon.
