Text Interpretation Methods and Cases from the Perspective of Narratology
by Lu Yang
About This Novel
Starting from the needs of Chinese narrative teaching in primary and secondary schools, this book introduces the important concepts, principles and methods of text interpretation from the perspective of narratology. In order to transcend the traditional interpretation methods of chapter excerpts or personal reflections after reading, text interpretation from the perspective of narratology strives to achieve a holistic and in-depth understanding of the text through the application of targeted concepts or methods based on the analysis of the structure of the work. The first three chapters of this book mainly introduce the theory of narratology, including the elements and principles of the structure of narrative works, the generation mechanism of textual meaning, the analysis and application of core concepts of narratology, etc. It also uses narrative texts in textbooks as examples to demonstrate the general methods of analysis. The fourth chapter of this book is the case part. A total of 28 texts including fairy tales, fables, myths and legends, biographies, narrative essays, and novels from primary and secondary Chinese language textbooks are selected to provide practical examples of interpretation from the perspective of narratology. This book aims to provide reference for Chinese language teachers in primary and secondary schools to improve their text analysis abilities. We also hope that Chinese language education colleagues can conduct their own expansion and in-depth research based on this book.
